Requirements

To use the app, you’ll only need a working Android device with a decent storage capacity so that you can keep the downloaded customizations.

On the other hand, ZEDGE Wallpapers & Ringtones does require a few permissions from the phones, so that it can function properly. That being said, it’ll first need your storage permissions to store downloaded contents along with executing the customizations.

Also, provide the contact permissions so you can set certain ringtones for each contact on your address book. Enable toe system setting if you want to bypass the default ringtones and wallpaper settings on your devices.

And most interestingly, the app also features the unique personalized recommendations that will be based on your locations. So, make sure you have the location permission enabled.

One of the great features about Android is that you can customize just about anything. You can change the look and feel of your device using custom launchers like GO Launcher or Nova Launcher. 

Zedge lets you take the customizations further with downloadable ringtones, notifications, wallpapers and more. While you could just look up these customizations on various websites, Zedge makes it easy to get all them them in once place. 

The app will also help you choose with curated lists called «Featured.» You can also browse by popularity, recents or by category. If you find something you like, you can download it immediately or add it to your favorites to download later. 

You can also download games from Zedge. Well, you can browse games and tap on links that take you to the Google Play store. While it’s nice to be able to look at games in the app, it doesn’t offer anything over just browsing for games in Google Play. In fact, Google Play’s curated lists are actually more compelling than the games lists in Zedge.

Download, set, go

Zedge’s interface isn’t the easiest to use but it’s not bad. Wallpapers, sounds and games are either presented as a list or thumbnail grid. Tapping on a ringtone or wallpaper will let you play or view the content. From this screen you can set the customization, rate it or favorite it for later. 

You can set your customizations either from Zedge or access it from Android’s menu system when in the settings. Wallpapers can be downloaded to your phone and ringtones can be managed by Zedge. 

The most annoying part of the app is the full screen ads. The app already includes banner ads at the bottom of the page but it’ll pop up a full page ad once in a while. This caused me to accidentally tap on an ad many times, which is obviously what the developers want.

Tons of content if you can stand the ads

If you don’t mind the plethora of ads, Zedge is a great app to download customized sounds, ringtones and wallpapers for your Android phone. The favorting feature is great to keep track of your favorite customizations. In all, it’s a great one-stop-shop for your customizations. It doesn’t offer custom icon packs for your launcher, but you’ll be able to find those within your launcher app or in Google Play.
