Macrium viBoot

Macrium viBoot enables you, to instantly create, start and manage Microsoft Hyper-V virtual machines using one or more Macrium Reflect image files as the basis of the virtual machine storage sub-system.

At a minimum, viBoot enables you to boot into the images you have made using Macrium Reflect, for validation purposes, or to retrieve data from old applications stored on a bootable image. At an enterprise level, you could recover an entire network environment in minutes.

Macrium viBoot is now built upon new technology that allows it to instantly present a Macrium Reflect image file as a Microsoft Virtual Disk (.VHDX) file.  

When creating a new virtual machine Macrium viBoot will create two Microsoft Virtual Hard Disk (.VHDX) files for each of the disks described within the selected Macrium Image file. The first VHDX file is incomplete and only contains enough information to describe the disk layout and a signature to mark it as a Macrium viBoot VHDX. The data for the disk is retrieved from the Macrium Image File by the Macrium Virtual Disk Provider filter driver as required. Because the data is not stored with the VHDX, it size will never exceed a few megabytes. The second VHDX file is a standard differencing disk that will receive any modifications made to during the lifetime of the virtual machine.

As with any differencing VHDX, this file can grow dramatically in size, depending on the usage of the virtual machine.

These VHDX files are stored in the designated Macrium viBoot repository and remain open until the Macrium viBoot virtual machine is deleted from within viBoot.

Заходим в диспетчер задач и останавливаем службы связанные с программой.Из папки x64 Server Plus (7.2.3957) перемещаем файлы с заменой по пути C:\Program Files\Macrium и потом применяем «Reg» файл 1Файлы замены являются так же Русификатором.Так же,в папке присутствует текстовый файл с данными для инсталлятора программы.Выключаем обновление Macrium ReflectПользуемся ))Внимание!!!Если у Вас установлена более старая версия, удаляем программу и применяем Macrium Reflect Cleaner и после этого устанавливаем новый Macrium Reflect

Бэкап

Macrium Reflect можно поручить ответственность за сохранность наших дисков и их разделов. Для этого в левой панели задач следует выбрать либо операцию «Image all local drives on this computer» (что переводится, как сделать образы всех дисков компьютера) или «Create an image of the partition(s)…» («создать образ выбранного раздела или разделов»).

Интерфейс программы можно назвать простым, и все операции можно делать в режиме своеобразного конструктора. Так при выборе операции по созданию образа диска выскакивает диалоговое окно, где мы можем выбрать что и куда мы собираемся бэкапить.

Создание образа с резервной копией диска в Macrium Reflect

Ну с дисками тут все понятно: выбираем кого надо галочкой и все. А вот с тем куда писать образ придется повозиться. Программа предлагает писать либо на болванки DVD (представляю, сколько потребуется болванок на диск размером 250 Гб!) либо на какой-то имеющийся накопитель побольше (ей в принципе все равно какой — в окне выбора присутствуют все носители, доступные компьютеру).

Саму операцию описывать довольно скучно: программа просто работает, образ создает.

Delta indexes

Each Macrium backup file has two parts; an index and the data. Standard backup files all contain a full index containing the location of any data block independent of the file in which it is located. This improves the performance of mounted backups. However, it makes the backup files larger and somewhat slower to create.

In the case where backups are frequent, or it is important to minimise the size of incremental / differential backups, you can enable delta indexes. A delta index only references data in the that file. The reduction in size and backup creation time comes at a cost of slightly slower mounted images.

Differential Images

Differential images are special case incremental images. Instead of referencing the previous incremental, these always reference the full image. As changes accumulate over time since the full image, the size and time required since differential images will consequently increase. The advantage, however, is that the backup chain will only consist of the full and a single differential image. This can make management of off-site or archive storage easier as older differential backup files can be deleted without invalidating the backup chain. For this reason, it is used as the second level of the GFS scheme (https://knowledgebase.macrium.com/display/KNOW7/Retention+and+consolidation).

Main Window

The Macrium viBoot main window allows you to see at a glance, which Macrium Reflect image files you have mounted (2), and which virtual machines are connected to those drives (1).  

The “Virtual Machines” view (1), displays the name of the viBoot created virtual machine, the current state of the virtual machine (Off, Running, etc) and the current CPU usage of the virtual machine. Selecting a Hyper-V virtual machine in the “Virtual Machines” view (1) will update the “Mounted Images” view (2) to list the Macrium Reflect images that are being referenced by the virtual machine.

The “Mounted Images” view (2), displays the path of the image file(s) used to create the virtual drive(s), the physical drive number assigned to the drive by Windows, the partition type of the drive (MBR or GPT) and the drive capacity.

The «Log» view (3), shows a record of the actions taken by viBoot.

Macrium viBoot can only monitor the state of virtual machines and drives while it is running. Clicking the Windows close button will minimize viBoot.

Protected File Access

Macrium Image Guardian will protect all existing local backup files from unauthorised modification or deletion. All such activity will be blocked with error 0x80070510 — Storage policy block.

Windows File operations on Macrium Backup files

Macrium Image Guardian will block opening of backup files for modification or delete, The following lists some of the operations and special considerations if you are maintaining the location and life of Macrium backup files outside of Macrium Reflect.

Macrium Change Block Tracker (CBT)

Incremental and differential backups are fast because Reflect uses the filesytem index to identify changes since the last backup to be appended to. Though Reflect can rapidly identify which files have changed, the changes within a file can only be located with a bytewise comparison; for large files this can be slow.

Macrium CBT vastly accelerates the change identification phase of incremental (and differential) backups. It is implemented as a kernel mode driver, logging each block that is modified by the filesystem. This provides huge improvements in backup performance.

A Virtual Switch of «<None>» ensures that the new virtual machine is not connected to the network.

Delete Virtual Machine

Virtual machines can be deleted from viBoot when the virtual machine is turned off. When the virtual machine is deleted from viBoot the virtual drives will be dismounted and the virtual machine removed from Hyper-V.  Prior to deletion viBoot allows the virtual machine to be backed up.

If a viBoot virtual machine is deleted from Hyper-V, the virtual drives will still be mounted. viBoot will list a virtual machine called «Deleted VM» that can be deleted/backed up, to dismount the virtual drives.

Note: When you delete a virtual machine the Macrium Reflect images used to create the virtual machine are not deleted.
