What is an incremental backup

Incremental backups also back up only the changed data, but it only backs up the data that has changed since the last backup — be it a full or incremental backup. They are sometimes called «differential incremental backups,» while differential backups are sometimes called «cumulative incremental backups.» Confused yet? Don’t be.

Let’s suppose that you do an incremental backup on Tuesday, you’ll only back up the data that changed since the incremental backup on Monday. The result is a much smaller and faster backup. The advantage of incremental backups is the shorter the time intervals between backups, with fewer data to be backed up.

Как создать образ восстановления системы Windows 10

Для того, чтобы создать образ установленной системы, понадобится войти в параметры восстановления. Сделать это можно при помощи Панели управления или из приложения «Параметры».

Для входа в настройки восстановления системы из Панели управления, выполните последовательные действия:

1. На Панели задач введите в поле поиска выражение: «Панель управление» (без кавычек).
2. В окне «Все элементы панели управления», сначала в настройках просмотра выберите мелкие значки, а затем нажмите на «История файлов».

Войти в режим восстановления при помощи истории файлов, используя «Параметры» можно следующим образом:

1. Войдите в меню «Пуск», запустите приложение Параметры.
2. В окне «Параметры Windows» нажмите на «Обновление и безопасность».
3. Войдите в раздел «Служба архивации».
4. В разделе «Резервное копирование с использованием истории файлов» нажмите на ссылку «Другие параметры» для настройки сопутствующих параметров.

1. В окне «Параметры архивации», в опции «Сопутствующие параметры» нажмите на «Посмотреть дополнительные параметры».

Далее откроется окно «История файлов» (при обоих способах входа). Нажмите на параметр «Резервная копия образа системы», расположенный в нижнем левом углу окна.

В окне «Резервное копирование и восстановление (Windows 7)» на левой боковой панели нажмите на «Создание образа системы».

В окне «Создание образа системы» необходимо выбрать место для хранения архива. После завершения инициализации устройств архивации, система предложит подходящий, по ее мнению, диск, на котором достаточно места для хранения резервной копии.

На выбор предлагается 3 варианта:

• На жестком диске.
• На DVD-диске.
• В сетевой папке.

Наиболее подходящий вариант для большинства пользователей: жесткий диск. В эту категорию входят переносные жесткие диски, подключенные к компьютеру.

Использование DVD дисков для хранения архивных копий менее практично из-за меньшей надежности лазерных дисков, и из-за относительно малого размера DVD диска. Поэтому для создания образа Windows надобится большое количество оптических дисков.

Сетевые папки на собственном сервере есть лишь у малого числа пользователей, поэтому мы не будем рассматривать этот способ.

Выберите диск для хранения архива, а затем нажмите на кнопку «Далее».

В следующем окне необходимо выбрать диски, включенные в архивацию. По умолчанию, система включает в резервную копию системный диск «C:» и служебные системные разделы на жестком диске.

В этом окне отображена информация о требуемом месте для сохранения архива выбранных дисков и о свободном месте на диске, выбранном для хранения резервной копии.

Пользователь может добавить другие разделы и диски в состав резервной копии Windows. В данном случае, мы делаем резервную копию системы, поэтому другие диски нам не нужны.

В окне «Подтверждение параметров архивации» ознакомьтесь с выбранными настройками, а затем нажмите на кнопку «Архивировать».

После завершения создания резервной копии Windows, вам предложат создать диск восстановления системы.

Я рекомендую создать диск восстановления системы, он может пригодиться в ситуации, если станет невозможной загрузка Windows на компьютере. На диске появится папка «WindowsImageBackup», в которой находится файл образ резервной копии системы. Не перемещайте эту папку в другое место на диске, иначе Windows не сможет обнаружить резервную копию для восстановления системы.

Install and Uninstall EaseUS Todo Backup

Install EaseUS Todo Backup

1. Double click EaseUS Todo Backup setup file. The setup wizard will appears click Next to start the installation.

2. Confirm License Agreement. If you accept the terms, select I accept the agreement to continue.

3. Select to install EaseUS Todo Backup, and determine whether to create a built-in account for EaseUS Todo Backup (If the computer needs to be managed by EaseUS Todo Backup Central Management Console, the option should be chosen)

4. Choose a location to install the software to the default folder, or Browse to select another location.

5. Tick the related option to create a shortcut on your desktop or Windows quick launch bar. Also you can tick them both.

6. Setup wizard asks for a system reboot to complete the installation.

Uninstall EaseUS Todo Backup

Select Start -> Settings -> Control panel -> Add or remove programs -> EaseUS Todo Backup -> Remove. Then follow the instructions on the screen.

If you use Windows Vista, select Start -> Control panel -> Programs and Features -> EaseUS Todo Backup -> Remove. Then follow the instructions on the screen.

If you use Windows 7, select Start -> Control Panel -> Uninstall a program -> EaseUS Todo Backup -> Uninstall. Then follow the instructions on the screen.

Or
Select Start -> All Programs -> EaseUS Todo Backup -> Uninstall EaseUS Todo Backup. Then follow the instructions on the uninstall wizard.

You may have to reboot your computer afterwards to complete the task.

Activation

When first running Free or Trial version, there is a pop-up window. Select License code (25 characters serial number) and input the purchased code to activate it. Or click the question mark button in the top right corner of EaseUS Todo Backup main interface, then click Upgrade Now.

When the activation succeeded, user can choose Create Now to create WinPE emergency disk. It is necessary to create an emergency disk in case of system crashes.

Note:
In order to finish the activation, you need to restart EaseUS Todo Backup.

Offline activation

If there’s no network connection, program will enter offline activation window. Just follow the steps in the window and get the Activation Code to activate the software.

Upgrade activation

When upgrading to new big version (6.1 to 7.x for example), a new license code is required to replace the current one.

Click the question mark button in the top right corner of EaseUS Todo Backup main interface, then select About -> Enter/Replace license code to input the new license code.

• The window will list license code and machine code at the same time.
• Only the license code (serial number) of same edition can be replaced for upgrade. For example, the license code of Workstation Edition cannot be used to upgrade Server Edition.

What is Machine Code?

Machine Code can be found in the About window, which is the unique ID that used to identify the computer installed EaseUS Todo Backup.

The license code (serial number) of EaseUS Todo Backup will be bundled with the Machine Code. User needs to contact EaseUS Technical Support if the machine code is changed.

The Machine Code will be changed with changing Hardware or migrating to new computer.

Ease of use

The free version of EaseUS Todo Backup Free provides access to all of the program’s basic functions, most importantly the ability to clone your hard disk and create back-ups of any important files. Вариант с WinPE весит 525 Мб и содержит упрощённый (в хорошем смысле) вариант утилиты. Загрузившись с такого диска, можно создать резервную копию диска или файлов, восстановить из существующей, починить MBR диска и запустить встроенные в Windows утилиты.

Windows-версия

Образ с Linux весит 56 Мб. Там сильно упрощённый вариант софтины, в которой функций минимум — восстановление файлов и разделов диска, их бэкап, а также клонирование разделов с одного носителя на другой.

Версия на основе Linux

Я считаю, что это самый адекватный и безопасный способ создания копии системного диска. Загрузились, нажали кнопку — и готово, можно в любой момент вернуть весь жёсткий диск к прежнему состоянию. Запуск такого копирования из-под Windows сопряжён с трудностями, потому что используемые системой и программами файлы могут просто не прочитаться. Авторы программы сделали всё возможное, в том числе реализовали функцию PreOS — запуск Todo Backup до старта системы (по сути те же версии, что для загрузочного диска), но, по моему мнению, загружаться с отдельного диска безопаснее.

Smart Backup

Это по сути вариант для ленивых. Жмёте соответствующую кнопку в панели, выбираете каталоги, место хранения и… готово! Резервные копии будут создаваться периодически. Добавлять каталоги и файлы в список «Smart Backup» можно напрямую из проводника Windows через контекстное меню.

System Clone

Тоже достаточно любопытная функция. Todo Backup умеет клонировать существующую Windows на другой диск (загрузочный раздел и с ОС), при необходимости оптимизируя операционную систему для работы на SSD. То есть, купив быстрый SSD диск, ничего переустанавливать не надо, достаточно воспользоваться функцией System Clone.

To create an incremental backup of your files on Windows PC:

Step 1. Open EaseUS Todo Backup and select «File».

You may have a large amount of vital data to be protected as time goes on, such as documents, pictures, music, and videos, etc. It is always a good habit to have a backup on a regular basis. 

Step 2. Select the files that you want to back up.

If you just want to back up one or some specific file types from one folder, the option at the top right corner can help you exclude other files.

Step 3. Select a destination to save your backup file.

Step 4. Click «Schedule» to create an automatic incremental backup.

For example, if you want to back up these files every Sunday, select «Weekly», and select «Sun». Then, set the backup method as Incremental.

Our software will start with a full backup for the first time. After that, it will execute a backup task for only changed files every Sunday. 

 Notice:

Here’s a warm tip for you. Since it’s the first-time backup for creating a full backup image, the process normally takes longer as it needs to image all selected files. Have a little rest and wait patiently.

If you have enough space, you can also select the «Appoint weekly first backup as Full» option. This option enables you to take a full backup and an incremental backup at the same time. But it takes a lot of disk space.

Step 5. Click «Save» and then click «Proceed» to execute the full back up. 

Once done, it will automatically execute an incremental backup on a set day.

What is a differential backup

A differential backup is one practical method for backing up single files or folders that change every day in backup strategies. A differential backup backs up only the files that changed since the last full backup.

For example, suppose you do a full backup on Sunday. On Monday you back up only the files that changed since Sunday, on Tuesday you back up only the files that changed since Sunday, and so on until the next full backup.

• Differential backups are quicker than full backups because so much less data is being backed up. But the amount of data being backed up grows with each differential backup task until the next full back up.
• Differential backups are more flexible than full backups, but still unwieldy to do more than about once a day, especially as the next full backup approaches.
